Executive Summary
Estimates for 2001 indicate that French spending on medical devices and materials used in the private sector and featuring on a list of products reimbursed by the state (formerly known as the TIPS list) increased by 13.8% over 2000. Spending on clinical analyses, meanwhile, was up by 6%. These are among the highest increases within the healthcare service and are likely to mean that there are more cost-containment measures on the horizon.
