Health Canada recalls over-dosage ophthalmic solution

Health Canada and Sandoz Canada has issued a recall of Sandoz Timolol Ophthalmic Solution 0.25% and 0.5% eye drops, as some bottles may contain more of the active ingredient timolol maleate than indicated. The products are used to treat intraocular pressure and glaucoma. The formulations may cause potential adverse events including eye irritation, dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing and cardiac failure, and patients currently using the solution are advised to discontinue use, consult their physician and return products to a pharmacist for safe disposal. As of July 21st, no adverse events had been reported in Canada.
