US President Barack Obama has appointed Jeffrey Crowley director of the White House office of national AIDS policy, charged with co-ordinating the federal government's efforts on HIV/AIDS domestically and abroad. Mr Crowley is a senior scholar at Georgetown University and previously was deputy executive director for programmes at the National Association of People with AIDS.
