Solvay has told employees that it would consider selling its pharmaceutical business amid rumours that Sanofi-Aventis is interested in acquiring the company. In a memo, Solvay said it was mulling over its options "as opportunities are scarce and the required financial resources are significant" for the pharmaceutical division.
