Merck Sharp & Dohme submits Irish plant plans

Executive Summary

Merck Sharp & Dohmesubmitted phase I plans for a new €200 million facility to Carlow County Council, Ireland, this month. The plant, located on a 65-acre site in the IDA Business Park on Dublin Road, Carlow, will create 170 positions once operating and 300 construction jobs whilst being built. MSD general manager Bryan Meehan said Carlow offered strategic location, size and infrastructure. Construction is scheduled to begin in October, with the facility scheduled to be operational in 2011.
