Schering-Plough reported a lower profit for the third quarter on a blend of charges relating to its acquisition of Organon BioSciences in 2007 and its merger with Merck & Co. Net profits were $477 million, a drop of 17%, while the firm's revenues for the quarter also contracted, falling by 2% to $4.5 billion.
