KV unit Ethex pleads guilty to two felonies in oversize pill case

KV Pharmaceutical unit Ethex Corp pled guilty on March 2nd in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri to two felonies in connection with the manufacturing of oversized prescription drug tablets, according to the US Justice Department. The government charged that, despite having knowledge that two products did not meet required specifications, Ethex violated the law by intentionally withholding this information from the FDA. The firm was sentenced to pay a fine of more than $23 million, pay about $2.3 million in restitution to Medicare and Medicaid and forfeit nearly $1.8 million.
