Amgen and the US FDA have notified healthcare professionals that certain lots of the anaemia treatments Epogen and Procrit (epoetin alfa), sold by Johnson & Johnson's Ortho Biotech unit, are being voluntarily recalled as a precaution because they may contain "extremely thin" bits of glass that may have flaked off from vials into the product.
