Executive Summary
The European Parliament is due to vote tomorrow on the proposal to give the pharmaceutical industry a role in providing patients with information on prescription medicines. All the signs are that it will pass most of the amendments made by MEPs to focus the proposal on the interests of patients rather than those of the industry, thereby increasing the pressure on ministers within EU nations to reach a common position themselves when they debate it on 6 December.
