New VP of immunology and fibrosis at Regulus

Regulus Therapeutics, a La Jolla, California-based biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of medicines targeting microRNAs, has appointed Dr Lars Karlsson vice-president of immunology and fibrosis. Dr Karlsson, who has more than 20 years' research and pharmaceutical experience, was at Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development from 1994 until this year, most recently serving as team leader of the company's west coast immunology department and senior research fellow, where he was responsible for projects from discovery until clinical proof-of-concept. Before that, he spent seven years as a researcher at the Scripps Research Institute in the Department of Immunology.
