Sanofi to cut French workforce by 'only' 900

This article was originally published in Scrip

Executive Summary

Today's announcement that Sanofi is to reduce its French workforce by 900 jobs by the end of 2015, is clearly not good news for the people concerned. However, the general feeling in France is that the cuts are not as bad as they might have been. Back in July when Sanofi began to talk about strategic objectives in its home country, unions feared that up to 2,500 jobs could be lost (scripintelligence.com, 17 July 2012 and 19 July 2012).
