Single EU patent court delayed ‘until 2016 or beyond’ as jurisdiction amended

Executive Summary

The European Commission is planning to update the legislation on court jurisdiction and the recognition of judgments in order to allow the future Unified Patent Court to enter into force as soon as possible. But the upshot of this enabling measure is that the Court is unlikely to be operational until 2016 or beyond, as the national and internecine politics play out.
