After two advisory panel meetings, years of back-and-forths with the FDA and a lot of investor rollercoaster rides, Chelsea Therapeutics' Northera (droxidopa) finally won US approval on 18 February as a therapy for patients with symptomatic neurogenic orthostatic hypotension (NOH), a chronic disorder caused by a deficient release of norepinephrine, which results in a sudden drop in blood pressure when a person goes from a supine position to standing.
