While there is a significant number of interested young people who want to engage in translational science and worldwide demand is increasing for those types of professionals – with many career opportunities in academia, government, industry and nonprofits – there are no clear collective or funding strategies to develop such a workforce, advisers to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health, said in a new report.
