US companies will now have to disclose the gap between what their CEOs make annually and what their rank-and-file employees are paid under a new rule from the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), which voted 3-2 on Aug. 5 to adopt the measure – although the requirement doesn’t take effect until 2017.
