Executive Summary
The World Health Organizationhas recommended three vaccines for the 2009 influenza season in the southern hemisphere: an A/Brisbane/59/2007 (H1N1)-like virus; an A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2)-like virus; and a B/Florida/4/2006-like virus. The recommendations relate to the composition of vaccines for the forthcoming influenza season in the southern hemisphere from May to October 2009; all are current vaccine viruses. A recommendation on vaccines for the northern hemisphere, from November 2009 to April 2010, will be made in February 2009.
