Russia's health ministry is working on a new model for the provision of medicines which involves the introduction of drug insurance. It will most likely involve 50% reimbursement of medicine costs from obligatory medical insurance (OMI) funds. Preparations should be completed this year; the new policy might be piloted next year and become fully operational in 2010.
