UK provides £20 million funding for support during Gaza conflict

This article was originally published in Scrip

Executive Summary

The UK's Department for International Development (DfID) has pledged £20 million to assist aid and logistics in Gaza. The funding will be used to provide logistical support for the UN, as well as surgical provisions – the World Health Organization and the ministry of health are currently surveying medical needs in the country – and to repair infrastructure and provide fuel and power to ensure the delivery of medicines, clean water and sanitation services. The funding will also assist agencies which can make an "immediate impact" on key areas outlined, the DfID said. The funding follows a previous provision of £6.8 million from the department on December 31st last year.
