Retail pharma sales in Kazakhstan increase by one third in first six months

Executive Summary

Retail pharmaceutical sales in Kazakhstan increased by 33% to $388.3 million in the first six months of this year compared with the same period of 2007, and the number of packs sold rose by 43% to 252.5 million, reports the local periodical Kazakhstan Pharmaceutical Herald. The average price of a drug pack fell by 7% to $1.54, but imported medicines were more than four times more expensive than domestic products, whose average price of $0.50 per pack has not changed since last year.
