Vietnam Receives H5N1 Human-Vaccine Production Technology (Vietnam)

Executive Summary

The World Health Organization has donated $2.7 million worth of equipment and technology to the Nha Trang Vaccine Institute in Vietnam. The institute will use the technology to begin production of a vaccine to prevent the lethal H5N1 bird-flu strain. Installation is scheduled to be finished by the second quarter of 2008. Production is then set to begin by the early part of the fourth quarter. Not only will the institute be able to supply Vietnam, the vaccine is also expected to be approved for being exported.
