Another tainted blood product has been discovered in Japan, this one extending back to the 1970s and children exposed while being treated for measles and other common diseases. The hepatitis C virus was discovered in samples of immunoglobulin preparations produced in 1977 by Green Cross, which became part of Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma. Two samples stored since then were found to contain the virus.
