Pharmacies In Japan Plan Hiring Binge Next Spring To Fix Shortage

This article was originally published in PharmAsia News

Executive Summary

Japanese pharmacies expect to go on a hiring binge next spring, some of them hiring as many as 50 percent more of the pharmacists graduating from college than they have in the past. The pharmacies are responding to a shortage of the professionals in Japan, caused in part by the recent move to require six years of training instead of four, leaving colleges graduating no pharmacists in 2010 and 2011. Pharmacies also face a change in regulations next June, allowing over-the-counter sales that require at least a registered sales person on site. Ain Pharmacies and Nihon Chouzai alone expect to increase their hiring next spring by as much as half. (Click here for more - a subscription may be required
