Japanese researchers say they have developed a way to put a magnetic charge on drug molecules without disturbing their medical properties. A research group at Yokohama City University and IHI said the development is based on quantum mechanics that enables them to place the charge on just a part of the molecule. The advantage to medicine would be that physicians could monitor the location and amounts of a drug in different parts of the body by viewing them on a magnetic resonance imaging machine and, using magnets outside the body, attracting the drug to the desirable site.
