Mitsubishi Tanabe To Settle Japanese Hepatitis Suit

Japan's Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma and its subsidiary expect to reach another settlement in the long-running case of patients infected with hepatitis C by tainted drug products. One of the lawyers involved in suits against the company says they expect to settle as early as late August. Plaintiffs and their lawyers have been meeting with company representatives to resolve the suit. One of the lawyers said the Mitsubishi Tanabe board expects to deliberate a draft of an agreement similar to the one plaintiffs presented June 23 that requires an apology from executives of the parent plant and its Benesis subsidiary.
