U.S. Device Maker Cook Expands Line In Japan, Revises Techniques

U.S. medical device maker Cook Medical has decided to sell its wares directly to medical facilities in Japan instead of relying on sales agents as it moves to strengthen its market in the country. As part of the effort, Cook recently hired 15 medical representatives and marketers and formed a 10-person team to oversee clinical tests and shepherd products through the approval process. A new drug-eluting stent already is being tested in Japan as well as the U.S. The firm plans to begin developing for the Japanese market products already selling in the U.S. and Europe.
