Japan Institute Finds Way To Halve Time To Produce H1N1 Vaccine

Japanese researchers say they have found a way to enable production of an H1N1 flu vaccine within a three-month period, half the time it now takes. Osaka University's Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, where the research was conducted, says it will build a facility to begin mass-production of its vaccine within four years. With the move, the institute said it should be able to produce enough vaccine within a six-month period to treat 60 million people, five times its current capacity.
