Japan CRO CMIC Acquires Daiichi Sankyo Shizuoka Facility

Executive Summary

Japan's largest contract research organization CMIC Nov. 30 announced an agreement to acquire a facility from Daiichi Sankyo. The 210,000-square meter facility based in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture manufactures antibacterial agent Cravit (levofloxacin) and hemostatic drug Transamin (tranexamic). Daiichi plans to move some of its production to other sites and keep the rest for contract manufacture for SMIC.
