Chinese researchers said in a published study endoscopic ultrasound is superior to the three usual methods of diagnosing lung cancer with X-rays. The Chinese University of Hong Kong scientists said the device was tested to see if it was better at diagnosing patients who have obscure abnormal shadows on chest X-rays that need further examination. The researchers concluded the EUS was better than more traumatic methods of computer tomography, bronchoscopy or surgery.
