Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare approved March 19 medical coverage of Japanese encephalitis vaccinations for children ages three to six. The Ministry will give children the required three vaccine shorts for free. Since MHLW's February approval of the vaccine developed and manufactured by Osaka University's Research Foundation for Microbial Disease, the priority of JE vaccination has been given to infants and newborns with weaker immune systems.
