India, Japan Researchers Develop Microneedle For Painless Injection

Japanese and Indian researchers say they have succeeded in mimicking the bite of a mosquito to develop a device that can extract blood or deliver an injection painlessly. Researchers from India's IIT Karagpur worked with colleagues from Japan's Tokai University to develop a microneedle that does the work of today's medical needle but relies on suction-based pressure similar to that used by mosquitoes instead of puncturing the skin.
