Executive Summary
Over the next three years, China will continue its program of getting more doctors to support rural healthcare. The Ministry of Health points out that with more than 1,000 Class III hospitals in 2,003 counties nationwide, each of these hospitals can support about three county counterparts. Under the program, Class III hospitals should send five doctors (three for TCM hospitals) more senior than attending physicians, or two persons in administration, nursing or medical technicians to each assisted county hospital. With the goal of raising standards of county hospitals to those of Class II Grade A hospitals, assigned physicians will conduct clinical teaching, technical training, surgery demonstration, complicated case discussion and administration advice in county hospitals.
