Europe ignoring flu vaccine despite WHO and EU advice

The majority of European countries are making little or no progress towards achieving the influenza vaccination targets set out by the World Health Organization (WHO), claims a recent study. The study’s scientific co-ordinator, Professor Thomas Szucs of Zurich University decried the results, commenting that the stagnation was “despite many national guidelines recognising the importance of vaccination and the European Parliament urging Member States to meet WHO target levels for seasonal influenza vaccine coverage”.
