COCIR pushes hard for RoHS exemptions as Parliamentary vote looms

This article was originally published in RAJ Devices

Executive Summary

The European industry association representing the radiological, electromedical and IT industries, COCIR, believes that medical devices should continue to be exempt from the scope of the RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC), concerning the use of hazardous substances in electric equipment, for up to eight years1. Moreover, criteria that would allow for exemptions should be strengthened, the association says in a new paper aimed at clarifying critical points relating to the directive's recast.
